Hilary Finucane

Hilary Finucane is an associate member at the Ó³»­´«Ã½ of MIT and Harvard and an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. She leads a research group that develops and applies statistical and computational methods to integrate genetic data with molecular and structural information, advancing our understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying complex diseases.

Finucane was a Schmidt Fellow at the Ó³»­´«Ã½ from 2017 to 2020. Before that, she earned her Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the Department of Mathematics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, supported by a Hertz Foundation Fellowship. Her doctoral research, in statistical genetics, was advised by Alkes Price at the Harvard School of Public Health. Finucane also holds an M.Sc. in theoretical computer science from the Weizmann Institute of Science and a B.A. in mathematics from Harvard. She is a recipient of the National Institutes of Health Director’s Early Independence Award.
