Katherine Helming Walsh

Katherine Helming Walsh is the director of alliance management within the Office of Strategic Alliances and Partnering (OSAP) at the Ó³»­´«Ã½ of MIT and Harvard. In this role, she leads a team of alliance managers who are responsible for industry-funded strategic collaborations. She previously served as the alliance manager for an industry-sponsored drug discovery collaborative project in oncology under the auspices of the Ó³»­´«Ã½â€™s Center for the Development of Therapeutics (CDoT). She also serves on OSAP’s leadership team.

Prior to taking on roles in alliance management, Walsh was a member of the KRAS genetics team, which was a part of the KRAS initiative at Ó³»­´«Ã½ aimed at identifying new therapeutic targets for KRAS mutant cancers. Her work there primarily focused on follow up from genome-wide CRISPR and shRNA screens. She joined the Ó³»­´«Ã½ in 2015.

Walsh holds a Ph.D. in biological and biomedical sciences from Harvard Medical School, which she completed in the lab of Charles Roberts at Dana Farber Cancer Institute studying chromatin remodeling and cancer. During her doctoral studies, she also participated in the Leder Human Biology and Translational Medicine Program. In addition, she holds a B.S. from Providence College (summa cum laude) with a major in biology and a minor in Spanish.
