Sam Friedman

Sam Freesun Friedman is a senior group leader and principal machine learning scientist and a founding member of the Machine Learning for Health group in the Data Sciences Platform at the Ó³»­´«Ã½. Friedman leads research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cardiovascular medicine, building both predictive models for diseases like atrial fibrillation and hypertension and foundational models which integrate multiple data modalities including ECGs, MRIs, and genomics.

Friedman's work has been recognized with a Ó³»­´«Ã½ Ignite award and has been covered by media outlets including the MIT Technology Review and the Harvard Gazette.

Friedman earned his Ph.D. in computer science from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His thesis presented algorithms for symmetry detection and registration in 3D point clouds. Prior to joining the Ó³»­´«Ã½, he was a research scientist at Apple.
