Ó³»­´«Ã½ Associate member David Sabatini was recently named one of this year's grant recipients under the Distinguished Young Scholars in Medical Research program of the W.M. Keck Foundation. This prestigious award includes up to $1 million over the next five years to support the work of his laboratory.

Established in 1998, the program aims to support research investigating the fundamental mechanisms of human disease by young scientists "who exhibit extraordinary promise for independent basic biological and medical research and who demonstrate a capacity for future academic leadership."

David has played a critical role in the establishment of The RNAi Consortium, in addition to other collaborations with Ó³»­´«Ã½ colleagues. His primary research interests focus on how biological systems regulate size, in particular via the mTOR pathway, and the relationship of that to cancer initiation and growth.

In addition to his Ó³»­´«Ã½ affiliation, David is also an associate of the Whitehead Institute and an associate professor of biology at MIT.
