The Ó³»´«Ã½'s Psychiatric Disease Initiative will host a symposium this spring focusing on the molecular basis of depression and novel approaches to discovering new treatments. The daylong event will feature talks by prominent depression researchers that describe the recent chemical and molecular biological insights into the mechanisms of depression, new animal models, and assays for potential new therapeutics. It will also include reviews of two large clinical trials of major depression and bipolar disorder that are sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health. The symposium will be held on April 11, 2007 at the Ó³»´«Ã½, and is open to the scientific community.
The event sponsors include the Ó³»´«Ã½ of MIT and Harvard; Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development, L.L.C.; Lilly Research Laboratories, Eli Lilly & Company; Pfizer Incorporated and Wyeth Research Laboratories, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
