An Overview of Models, Inference & Algorithms (MIA) at Ó³»­´«Ã½ 
Founded by Alex Bloemendal and Jon Bloom in the fall of 2015, the Models, Inference & Algorithms (MIA) Initiative, a weekly pedagogical meeting series, supports learning and collaboration across the interface of biology and medicine with mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and computer science.

MIA weekly meetings feature an interactive primer, breakfast, seminar, and discussion. Instead of an emphasis on research results, speakers dive into the methods — their mechanics, intuition, and philosophy — in the context of their research, so that participants can leave the talk having absorbed new ideas and potentially apply them in their own research.
