Seth Sharp, Ph.D.
Research Scientist II
Seth A. Sharp is a research scientist II and computational biologist in the Udler Lab within the Diabetes Genetics Research Group at the ӳý of MIT and Harvard. His work integrates multimodal data to develop translational approaches for precision medicine in complex metabolic disease. His expertise centers on understanding the molecular basis of polygenic disease in humans, spanning statistical genetics through to clinical application.
Sharp developed the type 1 diabetes Genetic Risk Score 2 (GRS2) and co-developed a dried blood spot assay for combined screening of type 1 diabetes and celiac disease, now used in national and international population screening studies.
He completed his postdoctoral training at Stanford University and received his Ph.D. from the University of Exeter, where he was seconded to the Alan Turing Institute in London for training in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
