Sharing data and tools to enable discovery
By sharing openly, we can help accelerate research everywhere. At the Ó³»´«Ã½, scientists make discoveries, data, tools, technologies, and knowledge freely available. We work with industry partners to ensure these innovations benefit patients. Learn more about #HowWeScience.
Aggregating and harmonizing data
Uniting sequencing data from large-scale projects and making it available to the scientific community
Technologies that sequence DNA and RNA, characterize cellular models, and perform functional screens are getting faster while costing less, fueling a surge in the volume of data produced worldwide. To help realize the potential of this information, researchers needed to create new tools and collaborations to organize and share it. Projects like the Genome Aggregation Database () and the Type 2 Diabetes Knowledge Portal aim to gather existing datasets into united collections that can be freely explored to yield new biological insights and even help physicians diagnose some rare diseases. By assembling, harmonizing, and sharing data on a large scale, biologists and data scientists at the Ó³»´«Ã½ and elsewhere are accelerating discovery in ways that will benefit more people.
